Consulting

The answer already existed. Nobody could find it.

Relay is the second agent we built. It reads what you have already written — your site, your PDFs, your FAQs — and answers from that, with the source attached. When it isn’t sure, it hands the conversation to a person.

The problem

Nobody was short of answers. They were short of finding them.

Every question a customer asks has been answered before — on a page, in a PDF, in a thread from March.

So somebody answers it again. And again the week after, in slightly different words and with slightly different details, because the person replying is rarely the person who wrote the policy.

The cost is not one reply. It is the same reply all day, by whoever happens to be nearest the inbox — and a customer waiting while it gets typed.

The knowledge was never missing. The finding was.

What we built

You point it at what you already wrote. It answers from that, and nothing else.

No knowledge base to author, no intents to train. What you already publish is the training.

  1. 01

It reads what you already have

Point it at your site and it crawls the pages, honouring robots.txt and following internal links. Add a page, paste text, or upload a file for what the site doesn’t say. It re-crawls weekly, so it keeps up with what you publish.

  2. 02

It answers only from your content

Every reply is drawn from your own pages and documents, and arrives with the source attached. Nothing is filled in from whatever a model happens to know about your industry.

  3. 03

    It declines rather than invents

A question outside what you have written gets a polite “I don’t have that”, not a plausible paragraph. That is the whole difference between a support agent and a liability.

  4. 04

It knows when it is out of its depth

When your content does not cover a question, it says so instead of guessing, offers the visitor a way to leave an email, records the gap, and tells you, so the question gets written up rather than lost.

  5. 05

It works where your customers already are

Your website, behind one script tag. Every conversation and every unanswered question sits in one dashboard, so following up is not a second tool.

What we learned

Three rules. Two of them are the bookkeeping agent’s.

We built AutoLedger for our own books before we built this. The rules that made that one safe to run turned out not to be bookkeeping rules at all.

That is most of what a consulting engagement is worth: not the model, which everyone has, but knowing which behaviours make an agent safe to point at customers.

The same three rules, on our own books — a year of accounts, 221 payments, ₹48 of AI.

01

Never guess

An agent that is 95% right sounds fine until the 5% is your refund policy, quoted to a customer, in writing. Ours would rather say it doesn’t know.

02

Show your working

Every answer carries the page or document it came from. The customer can check it — and so can you, when someone forwards you a screenshot of it.

03

Know when to stop

The valuable part is not the answers it gives. It is that it recognises the conversation it should not be having, and hands that one to a person before it goes wrong.

For you

Your problem isn’t support. It may be the same shape.

Ours looked like this:

  • the same questions arrived every day
  • the answers existed, in writing, somewhere
  • finding them took someone who knew where to look
  • getting one wrong in writing was expensive
  • and it never stopped — it only went quiet at night

Customer support is the obvious one. The same shape turns up in onboarding, in an internal handbook nobody reads, and at any desk that answers the same twelve questions for the whole company.

An agent, in plain words: not a chatbot. Software that does a whole job on its own — and stops to ask you when it isn’t sure.

Now we build agents like it for other companies. Relay is also a product you can buy off the shelf — see what it does.

What this looks like for you

Support that answers itself

The questions that arrive every day, answered from the pages you already publish, with the source attached.

Onboarding and the internal handbook

The same agent, pointed at what your team keeps re-explaining to whoever joined last month.

Reading what you already wrote

Sites, PDFs, policy documents, FAQ sheets. Turning what exists into something that can be asked a question.

Where your customers already are

Your website, behind one script tag — and one dashboard of conversations and unanswered questions, so a follow-up isn’t a second tool.

We offer to build AI agents like this for your company.

Tell us the question your team answers every day.
